Impressions of Mexico City

Mexico City - A very large, vibrant and friendly city. It is set out much like any European city with wide streets in the main areas, a very large main square (Zocolo) and lots of old buildings with both European and indigenous influences. Traffic here has to be seen to be believed with everyone seemingly driving all over the road at random. However, they all seem to be aware of what other drivers are doing and accidents are suprisingly few. Whilst there are 20 million inhabitants in the city, and the streets can be very crowded, I found it very friendly and inviting and didn't have any concerns re safety. Many speak some level of English but I got to practice my Spanish on a number of occasions, especially at the markets and buying food. Here's some of the places I visted during my stay. We leave tomorrow for Guadalajara.

Alameda Park, Mexico City

                                            Xochimilco Floating Gardens, Mexico City

                                            Bull Ring, Mexico City

                                            Diego Rivera Mural, Mexico City

House of Blue Tiles, Mexico City

Palace of Fine Arts, Mexico City

                                       Roses Stall, Mexico City

  1. Can't wait to hear all of your stories about Mexico City - speaking spanish, buying food and other things??? at the markets! The weather looks sunny too. And what about tequila? Have you been trying the margaritas??? I hear they're very good!!!
Not much to tell here - today the forecast is 'sunny' - for the first time in months, so it would seem.... and cool this morning. Asha was very frisky!

  2. Thanks for sharing all of the pictures - I can't decide whether I like the River Mural or the Floating Gardens picture the best...
